Bayanist

Excerpts from The Years of Pilgrimage

Marko Petričić performs on the Bayan Accordion, both as a soloist and in a duo. This versatile instrument lends itself to a wide range of repertoire, including original music and transcriptions from other instruments.

As an accomplished bayan-accordion performer, Marko Petričić has won awards at International competitions in Italy, Germany, Yugoslavia, and the United States. He has performed for the Yugoslav National Radio and Television, and more recently, with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

His passion for various musical genres led to a concert of Spanish and South American music for the Embassy of Spain in Puerto Rico, as a result of a prize won at the Latin American Music Center competition at Indiana University. Furthermore, Marko Petričić performs Balkan folk music together with Mathieu Névéol, an exceptional violinist from the Paris Orchestra, France.

“Your performance was outstanding, reflecting your superb musicianship and your amazing dexterity and technical mastery. We loved your varied and skillful programming, and appreciated both of the encores. It was perfect for this knowledgeable audience of musicians. The comments you offered in between compositions were enlightening and entertaining and demonstrated what a relaxed and experienced performer you are. The next morning our attendees were still talking about how much they enjoyed the previous evening’s entertainment. You are a natural teacher!”
